Clinical Neuromuscular and
Structural Bodywork (NMT)
Identifies and corrects postural distortions caused by muscular imbalances, the source of some people's pain. Left untreated, discs begin to degenerate under the pressure these tight muscles exert and the protective sheaths surrounding the ends of the bones that touch also degenerate, causing a painful inflammation in the joint.
NMT is used to address the following massage goals:
Reduce Ischemia – by increasing the flow of blood to an area.
Deactivate Trigger Points – by stimulating the ischemic soft tissues that refer high neurological activity into other parts of the body (referred pain).
Relieve Nerve Compression and/or Entrapment – by releasing pressure on a nerve compressed by soft tissues, or entrapped in bony or cartilaginous tissues.
Correct Postural Distortion – by restoring balance in the muscular system, by way of restoring coronal and midsaggital alignments.
Correct Biomechanical Dysfunction – by correcting faulty movement patterns that generate imbalances in the musculoskeletal system.
