MY TOUCHMy personal touch is that my intention, during the entire massage, is to provide the best massage experience possible. I mentally cleanse and quiet my mind before and during a session. This grounding technique brings an unparalleled state of relaxation to my clients and allows me to focus on relaxation and healing for the duration of the massage. I receive massage and bodywork regularly to relax my own sometimes achy muscles and to keep me in tune with how specific movements and techniques feel to others. This allows me to pass on the more favored techniques I have experienced to my own clients, especially if it feels great to me. I certainly do my best to provide the best massage possible, every time. |
EDUCATION2009 - Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy (16hrs by instructors: David Phillips & Marc Crotts) I graduated from the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage in Charlotte, North Carolina in May 2008, later becomming nationally certified and licensed since August 2008. Here is a briefing of the coursework completed during the 500 hour program: Anatomy and Physiology I: Introduction to the body’s major systems, structure (anatomy) and function (physiology), and associated pathologies. Study of how each separate system functions in regards to massage therapy. Study of common pathologies of each system and how each may affect massage protocol with regard to contraindications to massage therapy. Anatomy and Physiology II - Functional Anatomy: A deeper study of the muscular and skeletal systems. Study of bony landmarks, joint classifications and movement (kinesiology), musculoskeletal, and biomechanics. Emphasis on the study of movement and cause/effect of postural distortions (usually resulting in pain or limited range of motion). Allied Modalities/Swedish: Study of the history of massage and theory of touch, and its importance and impact on the body’s systems. Extensive discussion and supervised, hands-on, classroom experience with direct application of massage techniques learned. Several hours of supervised, hands-on training provided. Clinical Neuromuscular Massage: Study, in conjunction with A&PII (Functional Anatomy), of techniques and methods used to most effectively treat symptoms of myofascial dysfunction and chronic pain from conditions or injuries.
